PELELIU, Palau - Gunnery Sgt. Walter Greber (left) and Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force Lt. Cmdr. Satoshi Hirokami lay an honorary wreath during a wreath laying ceremony commemorating the Battle of Peleliu at the Peleliu Peace Memorial Park, April 12. The Battle of Peleliu lasted more than two months and is considered the bitterest battle of World War II for the U.S. Marines. The ceremony consisted of service members from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, Japanese Self-Defense Force, Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy.
