WAKE ISLAND - Equipment from World War II stands silent sentry along the coast of Wake Island, Feb. 3, 2018. Marines on the island repelled a Japanese landing force that tried to take the island in the days after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The Japanese returned with overwhelming numbers and took the island.
