USS Lake Erie, U.S. service members render assistance in Sri Lanka after devastating floods

Sailors aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70) and their counterparts from the Sri Lankan Navy work together to secure mooring lines as the ship arrives in Colombo, Sri Lanka, June 11 to support humanitarian assistance operations in the wake of severe flooding and landslides that devastated many regions of the country. Recent heavy rainfalls brought by a southwestern monsoon triggered flooding and landslides throughout the country, displacing thousands of people and causing significant damage to homes and buildings.
