USS Makin Island CRRC Helicopter Insertion

A CH-53E Super Stallion assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 (Reinforced), embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), launches a combat rubber raiding craft during a helocast training evolution with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Maritime Raid Force, Nov. 28,2016. Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region.
