American, British Navies Sail together in South China Sea
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) and the Royal Navy Type 23 ‘Duke’ Class guided-missile frigate HMS Argyll (F231) maneuver, Jan. 15, 2019, during a divisional tactics exercise. U.S. and Japan Strengthen Alliance at Yama Sakura 75
America’s First Corps and Japan Northern Army Soldiers work together with the help of interpreters to communicate ideas and strategies during Yama Sakura 75 at Camp Higashi-Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan, Dec. 13, 2018. Over the course of the week-long bilateral exercise, the U.S. Army and the Japan Ground Self Defense Force are working together in a simulation of the defense of Japan to strengthen the alliance and the capabilities of both countries’ forces. Multiple sections are participating in the exercise, including signal, clerical, legal, medical and intelligence personnel.

Japan and Indiana Guard forge alliance through live-fire exercises and disaster response
Soldiers of the Indiana National Guard’s 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team view a demonstration of “care under fire” given by members of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force during Orient Shield 2018. The objectives of OS 18 include training U.S. ground forces for deployment to Japan in the event of contingencies; exercising Japan Ground Self Defense Force and U.S. Army capabilities for the defense of Japan; preparing U.S. forces for combined, multinational and joint full - spectrum tactical operations; and increasing interoperability between U.S. forces and JGSDF.

Military Sealift Command’s USNS Pecos Delivers Project Handclasp to Thai Kids
SRIRACHA, Thailand—Aviation Metalsmith 2nd Class Kevin Brown with Patrol Squadron 8, hands a child an items from a U.S. Navy Project Handclasp kit during a community relations event at Map Yang Ra Hong primary school in Chantaburi, Dec. 16. Patrol Squadron 8 is a U.S. Navy land-based patrol squadron stationed at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., and deployed to Okinawa, Japan. Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Pecos (T-AO 197) recently transported two tons of U.S. Navy Project Handclasp humanitarian items from Singapore to Thailand that supported four community relations events at local organizations here.

BC18 is a U.S.-only mission rehearsal which strengthens the Navy-Marine Corps expeditionary, amphibious rapid- response capabilities required to swiftly and effectively respond to a regional crisis or contingency across the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

U.S. Marines conduct air assault in support of Blue Chromite
U.S. Marines perform a simulated night raid with multiple rifle squads during an air assault training event at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 31, 2017. Marines with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment were transported from Futenma to Ie Shima, where they carried out platoon attacks with medium machine guns in support during Blue Chromite. Exercise Blue Chromite prepared 1/3 for service as a forward-deployed force in the Pacific by training them to fight as a ground combat element in a Marine Air-Ground Task Force.

U.S. Marines conduct air assault in support of Blue Chromite
U.S. Marines board a CH-53E Sea Stallion Oct. 31, 2017, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan in support of Blue Chromite 18. The Marines conducted an air assault from Futenma to Ie Shima, where they carried out platoon attacks with machine gun emplacements in support of Blue Chromite. The central location of Blue Chromite allows the Navy-Marine Corps team to conduct high-level training without degrading its ability to rapidly respond to crises and disaster throughout the Indo-Asia- Pacific region. The Marines are with Charlie Co., 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment.
