A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, conducted a low-level flight in the vicinity of Osan Air Base, South Korea, in response to recent provocative action by North Korea, Jan. 10, 2016. The B-52 was joined by a ROKAF F-15K Slam Eagle and a U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon. The B-52 is a is a long-range, heavy bomber that can fly up to 50,000 feet and has the capability to carry 70,000 pounds of nuclear or precision guided conventional ordnance with worldwide precision navigation capability. NORAD Prepares to Track Santa for the 60th Year
U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Robert Williams, 176th Air Defense Squadron weapons director, prepares to help Alaskan NORAD Region track Santa this Christmas Eve. For 60 years the North American Aerospace Defense Command, including ANR at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, has tracked Santa’s movements as he travels around the globe on Christmas. The dedicated men and women of ANR have made the vital preparations necessary to help keep Santa safe on his journey around the world. When not tracking Santa, ANR's mission is to continuously provide warning of a possible aerospace attack within the region and will maintain aerospace control to include peacetime air sovereignty and appropriate aerospace defense measures in response to hostile actions within ANR's area of operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Robert Taylor, 51st Munitions Squadron F-16 armament floor chief, and Senior Airman Jacob Brown, 51st MUNS aircraft armament systems journeyman, put a 20-mm gun for an F-16 Fighting Falcon back together after performing maintenance. These maintainers from the 51st MUNS armament flight keep the F-16 Fighting Falcon weapon systems operational both day and night.
