MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan (Dec. 30, 2015) - U.S Air Force Staff Sgt. Mekai Stewart, 35th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 14th Aircraft Maintenance Unit weapons team chief, awaits the alignment of a weapons system. Stewart and his team were competing in a weapons load crew competition. Normally, teams of three Airmen are challenged to quickly install upwards of three types of armaments to a stationary F-16 Fighting Falcon in the quickest time possible.

USAF, RAAF and JASDF launch Operation Christmas Drop 2015

U.S., RAAF and JASDF launch Operation Christmas Drop 2015
Cpl. Teome Matamua and Sgt. Phillip McIllvaney, Australian Army 176th Air Dispatch Squadron loadmasters, deliver the first low-cost, low-altitude bundle of Operation Christmas Drop 2015 to the island of MogMog, Dec. 8, 2015. Australian and Japanese C-130 aircrews for the first time joined U.S. Airmen during the 64th year of Operation Christmas Drop – a Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief training event where C-130 aircrews perform LCLA airdrops on unsurveyed drop zones while providing critical supplies to 56 islands throughout the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Federated States of Micronesia and Republic of Palau. It highlights the U.S. and allied airpower capabilities to orient and respond to activities in peacetime and crisis.

Kadena hosts medical emergency management exercise
KADENA AIR BASE, Japan (Sept. 21, 2015) - U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Chang Park, 18th Aerospace Medicine Squadron aerospace medical technician, along with Tech. Sgt. James Barnett, 18th AMDS NCO in charge of flight medicine, assist a volunteer playing the part of a flight crew member that is ill after returning from a deployment during a medical emergency management exercise, at Kadena Air Base, Japan. The 18th Medical Group conducted this exercise to test readiness in a disease containment scenario.

Airmen flood support at Kanuma
KANUMA CITY, TOCHIGI PREFECTURE, Japan (Sept. 15, 2015) - Volunteers from the 374th Civil Engineer Squadron clear mudflow from a house at Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture. Sixty Airmen and civilians from the 374th CES volunteered to help at sites in the Kasono area in support of floods and landslides caused by the heavy rainfall associated with the post-tropical remnant of Tropical Storm Etau, which stalled over eastern Japan, dumping up to 17 inches of rain in 24 hours, from Sept. 10 to Sept. 11.

Team Kadena wraps up ATR in Tsuiki
KADENA AIR BASE, Japan (Sept. 2, 2015) - Members of the 44th Aircraft Maintenance Unit perform a final check before an F-15 Eagle takes off Tsuiki Air Base. The members deployed to Tsuiki, Japan, to participate in a two-week Aviation Training Relocation from Kadena Air Base, Japan, to help build interoperability between the two forces. The U.S.-Japan security alliance has remained the cornerstone of peace and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region for 50 years.

Airmen practice decontamination skills to kick off exercise
OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea (Aug. 18, 2015) - Airmen assigned to the 51st Fighter Wing prepare to decontaminate themselves following a simulated chemical attack. The Airmen were practicing the procedures to safely enter a collective protection system dormitory. The collective protection system (CPS) is a standby system within designated facilities that is activated when there is a chemical or biological threat. The CPS function is also used for facility occupants and shelter management team training during exercises.

Nepali troops attend WLC at JBER
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska (Aug. 12, 2015) - A Nepalese soldier fights alongside a U.S. Army Alaska specialist during an exercise during the Warrior Leader Course (WLC). The WLC, hosted at the Sergeant First Class Christopher R. Brevard Noncommissioned Officer Academy on JBER, is a month-long, hard-hitting and intensive course that teaches the basic skills to lead small groups of Soldiers and advance to the rank of sergeant. The student exchange is an ongoing part of USARAK's collaboration with Nepal as part of the Regional Partnership Program, which is designed to enhance interoperability for a variety mission sets across the Pacific theater.

Kadena Airmen, Navy Seabees combine for joint training
KADENA AIR BASE, Japan (July 23, 2015) - A U.S. Air Force Airman from the 18th Civil Engineer Squadron guides a U.S. Navy Sailor from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 as he pushes debris into a crater during joint airfield damage repair training. The training gave U.S. Air Force and Navy participants the opportunity to gain familiarity with one another while practicing skills they could potential implement in a wartime environment.

Operational mission complete for Screaming Eagles
