Marines Use Improved Ribbon Bridge, Test Air Capabilities During Exercise Blue Chromite
Marines move a component of a 15-bay Improved Ribbon Bridge as a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter inserts bridge components into the water in the Central Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, during Blue Chromite 2016, Nov. 2, 2015. This was the first time that Improved Ribbon Bridges, flat modular-floating platforms that bridge wet gaps, were inserted by air on Okinawa. Blue Chromite is a large-scale amphibious exercise that draws primarily from III Marine Expeditionary Force’s training resources on Okinawa. The location of the training allows participating units to maintain a forward-deployed posture and eliminates the cost of traveling to train. The Marines are with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The Super Stallion is with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462. Sea Services team participates in maritime security with Pacific Island partners during KOA MOANA 15-3
PACIFIC OCEAN — Coast Guard maritime enforcement team members board and inspect a fishing vessel, Oct. 25. These service members are participating in Oceanic Maritime Security Initiative operations as part of Exercise KOA MOANA 15-3 in the coastal waters off Tarawa, Republic of Kiribati.

Elementary school hosts Marines at Ribbon cutting Ceremony during PHIBLEX 2015
U.S. and Philippine service members salute at the ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 8, during Amphibious Landing Exercise 2015. PHIBLEX is an annual, bilateral training exercise conducted by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines alongside U.S. Marine and Navy Forces. It focuses on strengthening the partnership and relationships between the two nations across a range of military operations, including disaster relief and complex expeditionary operations. The ribbon cutting ceremony signified the end of the Humanitarian Civic Assistance projects at the Concepcion and Binduyan Elementary schools.

U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Richard Simcock and Australian Brig. Mick Ryan salute Marines with 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, as they pass in review Oct. 5 at the end of a farewell ceremony hosted by 1st Brigade, Australian Army, at Robertson Barracks, Northern Territory, Australia. Simcock and Ryan congratulated the Marines on their hard work and the amount of effort they’ve shown throughout their time participating in training exercises, performing community services and immersing in Australian culture. U.S. Marines and partner-nation soldiers culminate Exercise Tafakula 15
U.S. Marines with Company B, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, conduct patrol-based operations and engage in platoon-level attacks with troops from His Majesty’s Armed Forces of Tonga, the New Zealand Defence Force, the French Army of New Caledonia and the Tongan Royal Guards during their culminating event for Exercise Tafakula 15 Sept. 9-11 on Tongatapu Island, Tonga. Each military force split into integrated platoons for the event that comprised of 72 hours of patrolling, land navigation and attacking mock enemy positions. The rotational deployment of U.S. Marines in Darwin affords unprecedented combined training opportunities such as Exercise Tafakula and improves interoperability between the involved forces.

US Marines awarded for work in Australia
U.S. Marines stand in a formation around a giant clam conservation awareness display after its unveiling Sept. 7 at the Territory Wildlife Park, Berry Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. Marines and sailors with Marine Rotational Force – Darwin volunteered since the beginning of their six-month rotation in Australia to contribute to the park as part of their involvement with the local community. Beyond purely military training, Marines’ participation in engagements throughout the Northern Territory shows their appreciation for Australia’s welcome.

American, Australian and Chinese Forces Conduct Exercise Kowari in Australia
DARWIN, NT, Australia (Aug. 29, 2015) - Participants wait to march out for the opening ceremony Aug. 29 at Larrakeyah Barracks, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, before the start of Exercise Kowari 15. Kowari is a trilateral environmental survival training opportunity hosted by Australia and includes forces from Australia, China and the U.S. simultaneously. Environmental survival training in the Australian Outback offers a unique training opportunity in the Pacific.

Service members enhance land navigation skills
COMBINED ARMS TRAINING CENTER CAMP FUJI, Japan (July 27, 2015) - Marines with Combat Logistics Company 36 navigate through training grounds during Exercise Dragon Fire 2015. Using only a map, protractor and compass, service members navigated in an unfamiliar, highly vegetated terrain with limited time to complete their mission. Exercise Dragon Fire is conducted annually allowing service members to strengthen their combat readiness, a vital asset to the Marine Corps' mission.

TARAWA, Kiribati (July 25, 2015) - A 3rd Marine Regiment color guard takes its place during a repatriation ceremony. The ceremony honored the remains of approximately 36 Marines who fought and died during the Battle of Tarawa during World War II, and were loaded onto a C-130J Hercules aircraft to be transported back home to the United States.

Tisby, right, stationed with Combat Logistics Company 36 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, carry Sgt. Kendrick Moore, a motor transport operator with CLC-36, to a safety vehicle during Exercise Dragon Fire 2015. Dragon Fire enables Marines and Sailors to engage their combat mindset to prepare for the mental and physical stresses of a combat zone. Moore simulated an unexpected injury during this training scenario that allowed the corpsmen to respond as if there was a real emergency.

Marines, Australians commemorate 73rd anniversary of Battle of the Coral Sea
DARWIN, Australia (May 8, 2015) - Sergeant Anissa Hogbin, a bugler with the Army Band Darwin, Australian Defence Force, sounds "Last Post" during the memorial service commemorating the 73rd Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea May 8 at the USS Peary Gun Memorial, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The Battle of the Coral Sea was a series of naval engagements, between the U.S. and Australia against Japan, which occurred May 4 to May 8, 1942 on the northeast coast of Australia. Beyond purely military training, Marine Rotational Force - Darwin greatly appreciates Australia's hospitality and utilizes community engagements to learn and share with the host nation.

Nepal HADR
KATHMANDU, Nepal (May 5, 2015) - Lt. Gen. John E. Wissler meets with Alfonso Lenhardt and members of the United States Agency of International Development at Tribhuvan international airport before they depart to village Bhirkuna Deurali, Nepal. After Nepal was struck by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake Wissler and USAID members distribute supplies including tarps, sleeping systems and water purification solution. The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government's help after the earthquake. USAID is a U.S. Government agency that gives civilian foreign aid in time of natural disasters. Wissler is the commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force.

U.S. Marine aircraft arrive in Kathmandu to support Nepal earthquake relief
KATHMANDU, Nepal (May 3, 2015) - U.S. Marine V-22 Ospreys fly into Tribhuvan International Airport. U.S. Marines also brought an UH-1N Huey, tools and equipment to support the government of Nepal. The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government's help after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck their country, April 25. The Marines are with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242, Marine Aircraft Group 12, I Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.

JGSDF comes together with U.S. Marines

POHANG, South Korea (Mar. 30, 2015) - Republic of Korea (ROK) Marines unload onto a landing zone from a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey belonging to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), during Korea Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) 15. KMEPs are annual combined exercises conducted by U.S. Marine and Navy Forces with the ROK in order to strengthen working relationships across the range of military operations - from disaster relief to complex, expeditionary operations.

U.S.-ROK Marine Force strengthens alliance through annual exercise
POHANG, South Korea (Mar. 29, 2015) - Cpl. Brennan Palmiter shakes hands with a Republic of Korea (ROK) Marine during Korean Marine Exchange Program (KMEP) 15 in the vicinity. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) participated in KMEP 15. The overall objectives of KMEPs are to enhance amphibious operations between ROK and U.S. forces that contributes to security and stability on the Korean Peninsula as well as the entire Asia-Pacific region. The ROK Marines are with 33rd Battalion, 1st ROK Marine Division, and the U.S. Marines are with Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st MEU.

U.S. Marines, airmen and Republic of Korea troops train for contamination
OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea (Mar. 19, 20150) - Republic of Korea (ROK) airmen perform a decontamination operation. ROK airmen participated in a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear joint training exercise with Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 1 CBRN and 51st Civil Engineer Squadron CBRN. The week-long bilateral training event enabled U.S. Marines and airmen, and ROK airmen to learn different tactics, techniques and procedures.
