U.S. Marines with 3d Battalion, 2d Marines, provide security during Counter Assault Exercise on Okinawa, Japan, May 11, 2022. During this force-on-force exercise, an infantry company with 3/2 rapidly deployed into the double-canopy jungles of the Northern Training Area to defend against an assault from another infantry company with 1st Battalion, 3d Marines. This exercise was designed to increase 3d Marine Division’s ability to seize and defend key maritime terrain, such as islands or coastal areas, and conduct Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations in the western Pacific. 3/2 is deployed under 4th Marines, 3d Marine Division as part of the Unit Deployment Program. A M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle from 4th Squadron, 70th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade, 1st Armored Division crosses the Improved Ribbon Bridge (IPB) placed by 11th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division (ROK-US Combined Division), Republic of Korea, May 18, 2022; the 11th Engineer Battalion and 4th Squadron, 70th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade, 1st Armored Division worked together to construct an Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB) to allow the crossing by M1A2 Abrams tanks and M2 Bradly Infantry fighting Vehicles. Soldiers from across the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team “Ready First”, 1st Armored Division (the current 2nd Infantry Division (ROK-US Combined Division) rotational brigade) as well as other units from 2ID participated in the “Warrior Ready Strike” training exercise to increase their proficiency, learn about operating in the Republic of Korea, and re-affirm the commitment to the ROK-US Alliance. During Tiger TRIUMPH, U.S. and Indian forces conducted valuable training in humanitarian assistance disaster relief operations by inserting a joint and combined Indian and U.S. force from ship-to-shore in response to a hypothetical natural disaster. While on shore, the forces conducted limited patrolling, moved simulated victims to medical care and produced and distributed drinking water. Military exercises like Tiger TRIUMPH improve partnership, readiness and cooperation. Share

PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 22, 2020) Cpl. Clayton A. Phillips, a network administrator with Marine Air Control Group 18 Detachment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and a native of Beech Bluff, Tennessee, tests the connectivity of the Networking On-the-Move Airborne (NOTM-A) communications system during flight operations from the amphibious assault ship, USS America (LHA 6). The NOTM-A provides the mission commander the ability to command and control forces on the ground while flying above the battlefield. America, flagship of Expeditionary Strike Group 7, along with the 31st MEU, is operating in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Over the course of 10 days, crews will airdrop donated food, supplies, educational materials, and tools to 55 islanders throughout the South-Eastern Pacific, including the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau. UCT-2 provides a capability to support a Fleet Marine Force amphibious assault, subsequent combat service support ashore, and construction, inspection, repair and maintenance of ocean facilities in support of Navy and Marine Corps operations.
