PACIFIC OCEAN (July 14, 2017) - A landing craft, air cushion, assigned to Assault Craft Unit 5, approaches the well deck of the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), during amphibious operations as part of a sustainment exercise. PACIFIC OCEAN (July 14, 2017) - An MV-22 Osprey, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (reinforced) 161, participates in flight operations as part of an America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) sustainment exercise. Nimitz Conducts Ceremony At Sea

Sterett-Dewey Surface Action Group Deployment
The Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Key West (SSN 722), the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104), and the Royal Thai Navy frigate HTMS Naresuan (FFG 421) and the corvette HTMS Long Lom (FS 533) conduct a transit exercise as part of Exercise Guardian Sea 2017. Sterett is part of the Sterett-Dewey Surface Action Group and is the third deploying group operating under the command and control construct called 3rd Fleet Forward. U.S. 3rd Fleet operating forward offers additional options to the Pacific Fleet commander by leveraging the capabilities of 3rd and 7th Fleets.

YONGSAN GARRISON, SEOUL, South Korea -- U.S. Forces Korea continued its progress in fulfilling the Republic of Korea - U.S. Alliance decision to install a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) on the Korean Peninsula as the first elements of the THAAD system arrived in the ROK. "The timely deployment of the THAAD system by U.S. Pacific Command and the Secretary of Defense gives my command great confidence in the support we will receive when we ask for reinforcemet or advanced capabilities," said Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, U.S. Forces Korea commander.
