KUALA, Lumpur - Rear Adm. Sonya Bennett, Commander Joint Health and Surgeon General, Australian Defence Force, Major Roselyne Wia, Papua New Guinea Defence Force, Director of Health Services, and Capt. Peter Roberts, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Command Surgeon, sign Terms of Reference at the Indo-Pacific health security alliance summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 8, 2026. Founded in 2022, IPhas is the only comprehensive military–civilian framework in the Indo-Pacific co-chaired by INDOPACOM and the ADF. This alliance enables sustained coordination between defense forces and civilian health authorities. United States Indo-Pacific Command is committed to enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region by promoting security cooperation, encouraging peaceful development, responding to contingencies, deterring aggression and, when necessary, prevailing in conflict.
