Sailors assigned to amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) load ammo into the close-in weapons system (CIWS) for operational testing, Feb. 2, 2017. The CIWS is the last line of defense in protecting the ship against low flying aircraft, small boats and missile attacks. America is currently underway conducting routine operations in preparation for deployment later this year.

PACIFIC OCEAN - Sailors assigned to amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) load ammo into the close-in weapons system (CIWS) for operational testing, Feb. 2, 2017.
