SOUTH CHINA SEA (July 21, 2015) The Republic of Singapore navy's RSS Intrepid (69), right, RSS Supreme (73), and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Lassen (DDG 82), left, trail the littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) during the underway phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Singapore 2015. CARAT is an annual, bilateral exercise series with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and the armed forces of nine partner nations.

SOUTH CHINA SEA (July 19, 2015) Distressed fishermen await rescue from their sinking fishing boat by the Military Sealift Command ocean surveillance ship USNS Impeccable (T-AGO-23). Eleven fishermen were rescued from the partially submerged boat.

Airmen share forward aerial refueling tactics with Aussies
DARWIN, Australia (July 8, 2015) - U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron from Kadena Air Base, Japan, partnered with the Australian Army during a refueling exercise at the Royal Australian Air Force Base during Talisman Sabre 2015. Talisman Sabre is a biennial exercise that provides an invaluable opportunity for nearly 30,000 U.S. and Australian defense forces to conduct operations in a combined, joint and interagency environment that will increase both countries' ability to plan and execute a full range of operations from combat missions to humanitarian assistance efforts.

USS Chancellorsville Begins Patrol Providing Maritime Security to Indo-Asia-Pacific Region
YOKOSUKA, Japan (June 18, 2015) - The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) arrives at Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka to join the Forward-Deployed Naval Forces deployed to Japan. Chancellorsville recently completed a combat systems update with the latest Aegis Baseline 9 combat system. Chancellorsville is the first U.S. Navy ship to forward-deploy with that capability to help ensure the U.S. is best positioned to provide security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region.

USS Rushmore Aids 65 People at Sea Near Indonesia
MAKASSAR STRAIT (June 10, 2015) - A Sailor takes a woman to medical staff aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Rushmore rescued 65 people from a sinking craft in the Pacific Ocean between the Indonesian islands of Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Once on board, the rescued individuals were provided food and medical attention by Marines and Sailors from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Essex Amphibious Ready Group.

SOUTH CHINA SEA (Feb. 22, 2015) - An MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned aircraft system from Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 35 Detachment 2, prepares to land on the flight deck of the littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS-3) during flight operations. Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class James Lee
YOKOSUKA, Japan (Jan. 6, 2016)- The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Lassen (DDG 82), center, departs Fleet Activities Yokosuka for the final time as part of the forward-deployed naval forces. Lassen returns to the U.S. later this year after 10 years of being forward-deployed to the Indo-Asia-Pacific with Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15. USS Barry (DDG 52) will replace Lassen, bringing additional Ballistic Missile Defense Capability to the Forward Deployed Naval Forces, in Spring of 2016.
