THAILAND

U.S. Indo-Pacific Command military personnel work alongside Thai military and first responders near the collapsed State Audit Office building in Bangkok, which fell after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake affected Thailand and its neighboring countries on March 28, 2025. The U.S. military contingent included specialized search and rescue personnel from the U.S Army and U.S. Air Force who possess extensive rescue expertise, two unmanned aircraft systems with thermal detection capability, and U.S. Army Engineers and U.S. Navy Seabees with expertise in structural security. Marines, assigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in Okinawa, Japan, and Sailors, assigned to U.S. 7th Fleet in Yokosuka, Japan, work side by side in support of a ten-week integration with U.S. 7th Fleet and III MEF. The focus of the integration is to ensure the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aligns with the National Defense Strategy. SOUTH CHINA SEA

U.S. reconnaissance Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) exfiltrate towards a CH-53E Super Stallion with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st MEU, during a simulated visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) mission aboard dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42). VBSS is a part of Maritime Interception Operations that aim to delay, disrupt, or destroy enemy forces or supplies in the maritime domain. Germantown, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The America ARG, 31st MEU team remains the premier crisis response force in the region despite the unique challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Share

IE SHIMA, OKINAWA, Japan

U.S. Marines with 12th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, conduct a simulated High Mobility Artillery Rocket System fire mission while demonstrating expeditionary advanced basing capabilities Oct. 7 to 8, 2020, as part of Exercise Noble Fury, from Okinawa to Ie Shima and across surrounding waters. The Marines rapidly inserted via an air assault, defeated simulated adversary forces, secured the airfield, and established defensive positions around the island to enable follow-on operations in support of the navy including a HIMARS Rapid Infiltration mission under the cover of darkness. This exercise showcased survivability and lethality of the Navy and Marine Corps while operating in a distributed maritime environment. Share
