Citadel Pacific 2022 Exercise
Capt. Les Sobol, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), delivers a brief for Citadel Pacific 2022. Citadel Pacific is an annual exercise to evaluate command and control capabilities, and to ensure the readiness and effectiveness of antiterrorism programs throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility. For 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th fleet's forward deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.

Commander, Task Force 70 Conducts Flag Talks with JMSDF
Vice Adm. Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander, Fleet Escort Force, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, returns a salute to sideboys on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 5. Fukuda and his staff, as well as members of the Japan Ministry of Defense and media personnel, observed flight operations and toured various parts of the ship during their time aboard. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.

USARJ to kick off first Expert Soldier Badge contest
The first-ever Expert Soldier Badge competition for U.S. Army Japan is set to take place next week as more than 140 Soldiers vie for the chance to wear the coveted badge. The ESB, which a Soldier can earn by completing 30 warrior tasks, was created in 2017 to provide all Soldiers not in infantry and medical career fields an opportunity to prove their combat readiness.
