CAMP FUJI, Japan

A U.S. Army Japan soldier plots a point on a map during the land navigation portion of the USARJ Expert Soldier Badge training week April 14. The two-week ESB training and testing identifies soldiers who possess the mastery of skills integral to ensuring combat readiness, including weapons proficiency, land navigation, patrolling and medical comprehension. CAMP ZAMA, Japan

The first-ever Expert Soldier Badge competition for U.S. Army Japan is set to take place next week as more than 140 Soldiers vie for the chance to wear the coveted badge. The ESB, which a Soldier can earn by completing 30 warrior tasks, was created in 2017 to provide all Soldiers not in infantry and medical career fields an opportunity to prove their combat readiness. NAVAL AIR FACILITY ATSUGI, Japan

Hospitalman Genessis Santiago, assigned to Naval Medicine Readiness and Training Unit (NMRTU) Atsugi, Japan, administers the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination booster to a local area employee aboard Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi. NMRTU Atsugi provides U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved vaccines in an effort to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. Share

FORT STEWART, Georgia

Soldiers from the 92nd Chemical Company certified the 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle Platoon in South Korea. The Fort Stewart, Georgia-based company is deployed to support the Fort Bliss, Texas-based 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, as a part of a regular rotation of American combat forces to South Korea. Dillon Duke, from Edmond, Oklahoma, both assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps Fifth Air Naval Gun Liaison Company (5th ANGLICO), conduct Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) communication drills with the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) in the Combat Information Center aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) while participating in bilateral advanced warfare training (BAWT). BAWT is an annual bilateral training exercise that improves the partnership between U.S. and Japanese Forces. BAWT is an annual bilateral training exercise that improves the partnership between U.S. and Japanese Forces. This year’s exercise focused on enhancing readiness and interoperability of coalition forces from the U.S. and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Share

U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 734th Air Mobility Squadron, 44th Aerial Port Squadron and the 374th Airlift Wing unload humanitarian supplies from a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules assigned to the 36th Airlift Squadron, deployed from Yokota Air Base, Japan, at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam in preparation for Operation Christmas Drop, Dec. 1, 2021. Over the course of 10 days, crews will airdrop donated food, supplies, educational materials, and tools to 55 islanders throughout the South-Eastern Pacific, including the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau.
