US Navy Seabees in Timor-Leste Hold Multinational Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Lt. Megan Dunton, with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5; Thomas Daley, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affairs; and local Timorese leaders cut the ribbon at the completion of the four-room schoolhouse in Baucau, Timor-Leste. The U.S. Navy Seabees with NMCB-5 are deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations, supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific, strengthening their alliances and partnerships, and providing general engineering and civil support to joint operational forces. Homeported out of Port Hueneme, California, NMCB-5 has 13 detail sites deployed throughout the U.S. and Indo-Pacific area of operations.

USS America first LHA to visit MCAS Iwakuni
The USS America (LHA 6), the Navy’s only forward-deployed amphibious assault ship, pulls into the harbor at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Nov. 18, 2021. Due to its geographic location and collocated airfield and harbor, MCAS Iwakuni is uniquely postured to provide advanced naval integration in support of regional security. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to enhance interoperability with allies and partners, and serves as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

U.S. 7th Fleet Task Forces 71, 75, 76 form SAG in the South China Sea
Personnel assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5 (EODMU 5) and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 21 (HSC 21), currently embarked on the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Tulsa (LCS 16) conduct flight operations while on deployment, in the South China Sea, July 7. The exercise is designed to refine staff processes and command relationships between III MEF and its adjacent and subordinate command headquarters. MEFEX rehearses the MEF’s ability to deploy 25,000 Marines and sailors inn support of real world crisis or contingencies in the Indo-Pacific region.

As the U.S. Navy's largest forward deployed fleet, with its approximate 50-70 ships and submarines, 140 aircraft, and 20,000 Sailors in the area of operations at any given time, 7th Fleet conducts forward-deployed naval operations in support of U.S. national interests throughout a free and open Indo-Pacific area of operations to foster maritime security, promote stability, and prevent conflict alongside 35 other maritime nations and partners.
