Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group Arrives in Hawaii
JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (May 1, 2017) Commander, U.S. Pacific Command Adm. Harry B. Harris Jr. delivers remarks to Sailors and Marines during an all hands call aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) as the amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45) arrives in port. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is visiting Hawaii during their return transit to San Diego following a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.

Top-performing leaders complete phase one of the Young Alaka'i Leadership Program
Thirty - two top performing company - grade officer, warrant officer and non-commissioned officer at the Joint and Multinational Level, from all services across the Pacific region, including 1 Department of the Army Civilian, completed the 8th Theaters Sustainment Command's Phase I of the Young Alaka'i (YA) Leader Development Program 16-02 September 17. "Young Alaka'i is the most innovative, effective leader development program I have ever seen," said GEN Robert B. Brown, commanding general of U.S Army Pacific. "People are our best resource. It is important to get this kind of training opportunity to this cohort (company grade leaders) who want it and thrive for it."

Partnerships Connect as Pacific Endeavor Wraps up in Australia
Senior Military Signal Officers from around the Indo-Asia Pacific discuss communications interoperability and future trends in communications technology during a meeting at Exercise Pacific Endeavor 16, Aug. 31, 2016). Sponsored by U.S. Pacific Command and hosted by the Australian Defence Force, Pacific Endeavor 2016 is a multinational workshop designed to enhance communication interoperability and expedite Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief response in the Indo-Asia Pacific region. The workshop involved 250 participants from 22 allied and partner nations.

Navy Region Singapore participates in Citadel Pacific 2016
Navy Region Singapore (NRS), recently participated in Exercise Citadel Pacific 2016 along with other Navy Installations throughout the U.S. Pacific Command area of responsibility, including Navy Region Japan, Joint Region Marianas and Navy Region Hawaii from August 29 through September 02, 2016. The weeklong events had the Installations Auxiliary Police Force (IAPF) and Singapore Armed Forces drilled in entry control point procedures, surveillance countermeasures, gate runners, active shooters, and improvised explosive device detection and response. Both organizations provide security for NRS and its assets throughout Singapore.
