BAN CHAN KREM, Thailand (Feb. 8, 2015) - Lance Cpl. James Hutsell, from Fayetteville, N.C., drinks coconut water during exercise Cobra Gold 2015. The Royal Thai Marines shared several of their native fruits found in the jungle with U.S. Marines. Hutsell is a radio operator with 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment under the unit deployment program.

Exericse IRON FIST with Japan Self Defense Force in California
CAMP PENDLETON, California (Jan. 28, 2015) - Marines with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, teach Basic Maneuver Techniques for the Combat Rubber Raiding Craft to members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force during Exercise Iron Fist 2015 to help develop the Self-Defense Force's understanding of amphibious operations. Exercise Iron Fist 15 is an annual bilateral training exercise between U.S. and Japanese military forces that builds their combined ability to conduct amphibious and land-based contingency operations. USS Comstock arrives in Malaysia
SEPANGGAR, Malaysia (Jan. 22, 2015) - Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Janie Saldivar, a native of De Queen, Ark., stands by on the forecastle of the dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45) while the ship is moored for a port visit. Comstock, part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is on a deployment with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to promote peace and freedom of the seas by providing security and stability in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.

US, ROK Marines ruck over mountains

Singaporean Soldiers and US Marines Train at Camp Pendleton
MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, California (Dec. 6, 2014) - Soldiers with 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade and Marines with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment devise a reaction strategy in case of simulated Improvised Explosive Device attacks during exercise Valiant Mark aboard Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton. Valiant Mark enhances U.S. and Singaporean forces’ combined combat readiness through live-fire and urban terrain training as well as amphibious operations familiarization.

One Shot: Marines, JGSDF complete sniper training
YAMATO, KUMAMOTO, Japan (Dec. 2, 2014) - U.S. Marine Sgt. Joseph Armistead, crouching, instructs Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF)Members during sniper stalk lane training in the Oyanohara Training Area. The training is part of Forest Light 15-1, a semi-annual, bilateral exercise consisting of a command post exercise and field training events conducted by elements of III Marine Expeditionary Force and the JGSDF to enhance the U.S. and Japan military partnership, solidify regional security agreements and improve individual and unit-level skills. Armistead, from Seymour, Tennessee, is a scout sniper with Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, currently attached to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III MEF, under the unit deployment program. Bravo Battery lights up sky during ARTP 14-2

Recon Marines fast-rope from Ospreys
In this photo file, Marines execute helicopter rope suspension techniques out of an MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft March 12 during training at Camp Schwab, Okinawa. With these techniques, commonly referred to as fast-roping, Marines can execute tactical insertions and extractions where rotary aircraft landings are impractical, according to Marine Corps Reference Publication 3-11.4A. The Marines are with Force Reconnaissance Company, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
