WASHINGTON, D.C. - Joint military and international students attending U.S. Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, R.I. participate in a National Security Decision Making seminar as part of their resident curriculum requirements. Established in 1884, NWC is the oldest institution of its kind in the world and is coined “the Navy’s home of thought.” More than 50,000 students have graduated since its first class in 1885. The NWC’s resident student program graduates more than 600 students a year, while their robust distance learning program graduates more than 1,000 students a year. Students earn Joint Professional Military Education credit and either a diploma or a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.
