Leaders Discuss Logistics of Move to Camp Humphreys

08 November 2016

From Maj. Jennifer Lovett

CAMP HUMPHREYS YONGSAN, South Korea -- Beginning in the spring, U.S. Forces Korea initiates a major wave of unit moves to Camp Humphreys as part of the Yongsan Relocation Program.

Logistical plans for moving nearly 2000 personnel by the end of 2017 were discussed with Korean Ministry of National Defense U.S. Forces Relocation Office Chief Director Kim Kie Soo and Lt. Gen. Thomas Vandal, USFK Chief of Staff, November 3 at U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan.

Information about personnel and furniture moves to include location and timelines are available to service members and civilian employees from their supervisors. Services including medical care, commissary and exchange outlets, restaurants and schools will be available for all military community members at U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan and at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys. However, inconveniences are inevitable in a move this size, and patience will be needed.

All USFK personnel and their families should:
1. Talk to the unit supervisor. Units have the most up-to-date information about individual moves.
2. Keep watching the USFK Transformation website for more information.
3. Attend town halls. The next town hall for USFK US Civilian employees will be held November 17 at the South Post Chapel at 3 p.m.

The YRP and Land Partnership Plan (LPP) signed in 2004 formally designated a new footprint for the American military further south of Seoul in the Republic of Korea. The spring moves mark the first major relocation effort of personnel, families and office space.
