SHARIKI COMMUNICATION SITE, Japan - Pfc. Onil Almanzar, 10th Missile Defense Battery fire control enhanced operator and maintainer, based at Shariki, Japan, performs maintenance on the Army Navy/Transportable Radar Surveillance and Control Model 2, or AN/TPY-2, forward-based mode radar. Almanzar and Soldiers at the Shariki Communications Site, also known as the "Samurai Battery," provide long range detection, classification and tracking for the engagement of strategic and theater ballistic missile threats in support of homeland defense and the Indo-Pacific theater of operations.
