U.S. Government returns land to Okinawa

GINOWAN CITY, Okinawa, Japan - Local and military officials along with members of the Government of Japan stand for the playing of Kimigayo and the American national anthem at the land return ceremony Aug. 1 at Laguna Garden Hotel in Ginowan City, Okinawa, Aug. 1, 2017. The U.S. government returned 10.56 acres from Marine Corps Air Station Futenma to Ginowan City. The purpose of this is to strategically realign, consolidate, and reduce U.S. facilities and adjust operational procedures on Okinawa.
