Brig. Gen. Norman B. Shaw, Jr. is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director of Requirements and Resources, Headquarters U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. In this capacity, he assists the director with responsibilities for identifying capability gaps, prioritizing requirements, shaping material and non-material solutions, funding execution, and providing key analyses to enable USINDOPACOM to implement the National Defense Strategy.
Brig. Gen. Shaw was commissioned through the Air Force Officer Training School in 1998 and earned his pilot wings as a Distinguished Graduate of Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. His operational background includes strategic airlift experience flying C-141, C-5 and C-17 aircraft, while serving in numerous operations including Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the National Science Foundation’s resupply mission to McMurdo Station, Antarctica.
Prior to his current position, Brig. Gen. Shaw served as Mobilization Assistant to the Director of Strategy, Plans, Requirements and Programs, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. His past assignments include service at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, along with joint service at United States Transportation Command and the Joint Staff.
