On June 28, 2024, Master Chief Travis W. Cutler assumed the duties as Command Master Chief of Joint Interagency Task Force - West (JIATF-W), the Supported Commander for U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) DoD support to law enforcement for Counter-Drug and related Counter Transnational Organized Crime activities.
Originally, from Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Master Chief Cutler enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in April of 2004. Master Chief Cutler currently serves as the Command Master Chief at Joint Interagency Task Force – West. His wife Frances and three children, Kaili, Aiden, and Ashlyn, accompany him. Prior to this assignment, he was the Command Master Chief for USCG Sector San Francisco.
Master Chief Cutler’s previous assignments include a student fellowship with the U.S. Army Sergeant’s Major Academy - Class 71 located at Fort Bliss, TX; the Leading Chief of USCG Air Station Houston, TX; the MH-65 Division Standardization Team | Aviation Engineering Maintenance Chief at USCG Aviation Training Center (ATC) Mobile, AL; USCG Air Station Borinquen, PR; USCG Air Station Sacramento, CA; USCGC Chase, WHEC 718, and USCG PSU 311 while attached to the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves.
Master Chief Cutler holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Grantham University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Columbia Southern University, and a Masters in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Excelsior University. He is a graduate of Keystone Joint Operations Module, Class 2024-1. He additionally graduated with honors from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 71, Chief Petty Officer’s Academy Class CCXV, and has completed various service schools including: Advanced Helicopter Rescue School, Course Developer Course, Instructor Development Course, and Methods of Instruction.
Personal awards include (two) Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medals with the operational distinguishing device, (three) Coast Guard Commendation Medals, (three) Coast Guard Achievement Medals, (two) Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbons, and (two) LT Robert A. Perchard Trophy Awards. In 2013, he was recognized as the Service’s Enlisted Person of the Year (EPOY) and has earned a permanent aircrew insignia and numerous other personal and service awards.
