Honolulu, HI - Service members, veterans, and community leaders came together from across Oahu to celebrate Veterans Day at the National Memorial of the Pacific, Hawaiʻi, Nov. 11, 2024. First observed by President Woodrow Wilson as Armistice Day in 1919 to mark the end of World War I, the holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to honor all U.S. veterans.
