SAGAMI WAN, Japa - Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, the Honorable Rahm Emanuel, U.S. ambassador to Japan, Japan Minister of Defense Hamada Yasukazu, Adm. Mike Gilday, chief of naval operations, Adm. Sakai Ryo, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) chief of staff, Vice Adm. Karl Thomas, commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, Rear Adm. Buzz Donnelly, commander, Task Force 70, and Capt. Daryle Cardone, commanding officer of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), pose for a photo on the flight deck during a ship tour as part of the JMSDF Fleet Review 2022 in the Sagami Wan, Nov. 6. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
