PUERTO PRINCESA, Philippines - (From left to right) Philippine Navy Capt. Francisco Tagamolila Jr., acting commander, Philippine Naval Forces West, Philippine Navy Vice Adm. Rene Medina, commander, Western Command, and U.S. Navy Capt. Ann McCann, deputy commodore of Destroyer Squadron 7, stand together on stage for the playing of the Philippine national anthem during the closing ceremony for Maritime Training Activity (MTA) Sama Sama 2019. Now in its third year, MTA Sama Sama includes forces from Japan, Philippines and the United States, and is designed to promote regional security cooperation, maintain and strengthen maritime partnerships, and enhance maritime interoperability.
