YOKOSE, Japan - Landing craft air, cushion (LCAC) Navigator, Quartermaster 2nd Class Ciaran Steinkamp (left), and LCAC Engineer, Electrician™s Mate 1st Class Billy Turner, both assigned to Naval Beach Unit (NBU) 7, prepare to enter the water during transit to embark the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force amphibious transport dock ship JS Kunisaki (LST 4003) as part of an LCAC interoperability exchange. U.S. and Japanese forces conduct bilateral amphibious exchanges on an ongoing basis in order to improve tactical proficiency and shared understanding of procedures.
