YOKOSUKA, Japan - Sailors from deck department man the phone-and-distance line on the flight deck as MH-60S Sea Hawks, assigned to Military Sealift Command (MSC) dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE 14), deliver ordnance to the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), as part of a replenishment-at-sea during sea trials. The non-combatant, civilian-crewed ship, operated by MSC, provides fuel, food, ordnance, spare parts, mail and other supplies to Navy ships throughout the world. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
