At the request of the Government of the Philippines, the MRF-D 25.3 Marine Air-Ground Task Force, working alongside the Armed Forces of the Philippines, provide foreign disaster relief to communities affected by consecutive storms and the southwest monsoon. The forward presence and ready posture of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in the region, facilitates rapid and effective response to crises, demonstrating a commitment to allies and partners during times of need. A combined-military rescue team of Soldiers from U.S. Army’s 130th Engineer Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, and the People’s Republic of China’s People’s Liberation Army, complete their final rescue and recovery inspection at the simulation of a housing structure demolished by an earthquake during the U.S.-China Disaster Management Exchange 2016, November 17, in Kunming, Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China. The annual United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) Security Cooperation event with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is an opportunity to share Humanitarian Assistance/ Disaster Relief lessons learned from real world events and enhance U.S. and Chinese disaster management capabilities.
