RUTEX: Maritime Raid Force performs urban training

Staff Sgt. Travis Caron sets up satellite communications during a raid Jan. 13, 2015, as part of Realistic Urban Training Exercise on Guam. RUTEX is a high-intensity close-quarter battle training exercise conducted in an actual urban environment to provide a high degree of realism to the training. The exercise is part of the Maritime Raid Force’s pre-deployment training before their upcoming deployment with the 31st MEU. Caron, from Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, is the Force Reconnaissance Platoon communications chief with MRF, 31st MEU.
