U.S. Marines with 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, drive a M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System onto a U.S. Navy landing craft, utility assigned to San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) as part of a simulated amphibious raid, at Kin Blue, Okinawa, Japan, Aug. 14, 2019. This simulated amphibious raid marks the first time that HIMARS have been inserted by landing craft, utility, demonstrating the Marine Air-Ground Task Force’s ability to conduct combined-arms maneuver from amphibious shipping.

Wasp Amphibious Ready Group ends Talisman Sabre with Australia Port Visits
The amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) arrives in Cairns, Australia for a scheduled port visit. Green Bay, part of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, participated in Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. A bilateral, biennial event, Talisman Sabre is designed to improve U.S. and Australian combat training, readiness and interoperability through realistic, relevant training necessary to maintain regional security, peace and stability.

History in the making: “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band Visits Japan for First Time
"The President’s Own” United States Marine Band performs at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Culture Hall Sinfonia Iwakuni in Iwakuni City, Japan, May 19, 2019. Nearly 1,200 Japanese locals and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni residents attended the concert. The centuries-old musical group rarely travels outside of the United States and has never before visited Japan. The last time the band performed internationally was 2001 in Switzerland, making this trip truly historic and unique.

U.S., Japanese and Australian Forces Conclude COPE North 2019 with Air Dominance
Aircraft from the United States and Japan participate in a COPE North 2019 airpower demonstration formation over the Pacific Ocean, March 6, 2019. CN19 is a long-standing exercise designed to enhance multilateral air operations amongst partner nations and includes humanitarian assistance and disaster relief airlift operations as well as large-force employment. Approximately 2,000 U.S. Airmen, Marines, and Sailors participated alongside approximately 800 Royal Australian Air Force and Koku-Jieitai (Japan Air Self Defense Force) members during the exercise.
