Colorado Air National Guard 120th Fighter Squadron prepares for Kadena deployment
A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft assigned to the 120th Fighter Squadron (FS) takes off from Buckley Air Force Base, Colo., May, 1, 2017. Approximately 250 Airmen and 12 F-16 Fighting Falcons with the 120th FS, Colorado Air National Guard Base at Buckley are set to deploy in May to Kadena as the 120th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron in support of the U.S. Pacific Command Theater Security Package (TSP). These TSPs demonstrate the continuing U.S. commitment to stability and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Trilateral training expands life-saving capabilities
Aeromedical Evacuation Airmen from the U.S., Japanese and Australian air forces transport a simulated patient to a U.S. Air Force C-12 Huron as part of annual exercise Cope North Feb. 21, 2017, at Tinian Air Field. Aeromedical evacuation training was conducted on the Huron to familiarize airmen with patient care on a new airframe. Cope North is a long-standing exercise designed to enhance multilateral air operations between the partnered militaries, bringing together more than 2,700 U.S. Airmen, Sailors and Marines who are training alongside approximately 600 combined JASDF and RAAF participants.

MACS-4 Marines train to employ expeditionary runways
U.S. Marines with Marine Air Control Squadron (MACS) 4 Detachment Bravo, Marine Air Traffic Control Mobile Team (MMT), run to the next 500-foot marker of an expeditionary runway during aircraft landing zone training at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Dec. 21, 2016. The training allows the Marines to gain experience, practice constructing an expeditionary airfield, and complete training and readiness requirements. An MMT team comprises of a base, pace, chase, reference, navigation aid and communication technician who establish a runway in remote locations during combat scenarios, medical evacuations or for humanitarian aid.

Marine Osprey refueled by Japanese Defense Force
Sgt. Andrew Sturgress, a MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft crew chief assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 262, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, walks past Mr. Norio Tomonaga, the Mayor of Sasebo, and the Assemblymen of Defense for Sasebo City during take-off preparation from Sasebo, Nagasaki, Japan, Nov. 18, 2016. The aircraft flew from the island of Okinawa, conducted simulated humanitarian aid with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) at multiple locations and was refueled by JMSDF personnel before returning to Okinawa. Sturgess is a native of Sidney, Illinois.
