Japanese, Korean and U.S. Aircraft Conduct Show of Force in Response to North Korean Missile Launch
A formation of U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancers, U.S. Marine F-35B Lightning IIs and Republic of Korea Air Force F-15K Slam Eagles fly in unison during a show of force near the Demilitarized Zone the Korean Peninsula, Sept.18, 2017. The flight took place in response to a North Korean test-launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile over the Sea of Japan. Upon joining formation, the aircraft conducted a bombing run with live munitions at the Pilsung Training Range in South Korea, validating their ability to come together as a force and employ weapons against a common target. The primary goal of this mission was to ensure the defense of Allies in the region and the U.S. homeland and its interests. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. Joseph Cole/Released)
