B-1s Conduct South China Sea Mission, Demonstrates Global Presence
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer from the 28th Bomb Wing, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., approaches a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 909th Air Refueling Squadron, to refuel during a 34-hour round-trip sortie to conduct operations over the Pacific as part of a joint U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Bomber Task Force (BTF) mission April 30, 2020. This operation demonstrates the U.S. Air Force’s dynamic force employment model in line with the National Defense Strategy’s objectives of strategic predictability with persistent bomber presence, assuring allies and partners.

Due to COVID-19, planes that would normally take the mail, bound for Misawa Air Base, Japan, from Haneda or Narita Airport, have been reduced to one flight per day, requiring the mail to be processed and flown through Yokota.

Team Kadena Operators Honor Ultimate Sacrifice
U.S. Airmen and family members with the 320th Special Tactics Squadron and the 31st Rescue Squadron conduct a memorial ruck march at Kadena Air Base, Japan, Oct. 25, 2019. The ruck featured over 1,000 lbs. of equipment and water hauled across five miles. The memorial ruck served as a symbolic gesture of shared suffering among special operations forces service members, in honor of two pararescueman, Tech. Sgts. Peter Kraines and Sean Barnes who died after sustaining injuries during training incidents in 2014 and 2019.

Welcome to the Jungle
U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Air Force service members conduct intravenous hydration during a multi-day training event Aug. 22, 2019, at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, Camp Gonsalves, Japan. Kadena F-15s Celebrate 40 Years of Air Superiority
Two F-15C Eagles from the 44th Fighter Squadron fly during a training exercise July 10, 2019, out of Kadena Air Base, Japan. The Eagle can be armed with several combinations of different air-to-air weapons: AIM-120 AMRAAM advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles on its lower fuselage corners, AIM-9M/X Sidewinder or AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles on two pylons under the wings, and an internal 20 millimeter (0.79 in) M61 Vulcan Gatling gun in the right wing root.
