Amphibious Assault Rehearsal during Ssang Yong 16
A U.S. Marine Corps Amphibious Assault Vehicle assigned to Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit enters the water after conducting an amphibious assault rehearsal during Exercise Ssang Yong 16, Dogu Beach, Pohang, Republic of Korea, Mar. 10, 2016. The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps team is committed to the ROK-U.S. Alliance and conduct exercises regularly to ensure interoperability and maintain strong working relationships to support the sovereignty of the ROK. Ssang Yong familiarizes American armed forces with the Korean Peninsula and builds upon the strong preexisting relationship between the two militaries. Exercise Iron Fist: PHIBLEX
A Landing Craft Air Cushion from Assault Craft Unit Five, lands ashore to drop equipment and personnel in support of the Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX) for Exercise Iron Fist 2016 aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 26, 2016. Cobra Gold 16: Noncombatant Evacuation Preparation

TRAP: Never Leave a Marine Behind
Sgt. Eric M. Ekelund prepares an MV-22B Osprey to land the tactical recovery of aircraft and personal force during a Cobra Gold 16 demonstration at Utapao, Thailand February 15. During the scenario-based training the MV-22B Osprey unloads the TRAP force personnel so they can continue on foot to rescue the simulated casualty. TRAP: Never Leave a Marine Behind

US and Japanese Forces Conduct Sniper Training During Exercise Iron Fist in California
MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDELTON, Calif (Feb. 1, 2016) - Soldiers of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's Western Army Infantry Regiment Scout Sniper program get on line with each other to provide cover-fire during a walk-through of a break contact drill during an abbreviated scout sniper course instructed by Marine Corps scout sniper instructors during Exercise Iron Fist. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral amphibious training exercise focused on the strengthening of amphibious operations between the U.S. Marine Corps and the JGSDF. Small scout sniper teams can be used prior to an amphibious assault to gather reconnaissance and eliminate key targets.

Japan Ground Self Defense Force soldiers board a CH-47 Chinook while providing security during Forest Light 16-2 in Yausubetsu Training Area, Hokkaido, Japan, Feb. 1, 2016. Military Sealift Command delivers essentials, rolls out Exercise Cobra Gold
CHUK SAMET, Thailand-A humvee is offloaded from the Military Sealift Command’s Surge Sealift, Roll-on/Roll-off ship USNS MAJ Stephen W. Pless (T-AK 3007) here, Jan. 28. The Pless, carrying more than 470 items, is one of two MSC ships delivering equipment for Exercise Cobra Gold, one of the largest multilateral exercises in the Asia-Pacific region. The Pless is concurrently participating in Pacific Pathway 16-1, an operation that supports three exercises.

Japan Ground Self-Defense Force officer candidates learn from Marines
Cpl. Malynn Ochsner shows Japan Ground Self-Defense Force officer candidate Ayako Yukawa how to operate a MK19 machine gun, MOD 3 on Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 15. Three hundred and sixty JGSDF officer candidates visited Combat Logistics Regiment 35 to complete joint and combined operation requirements. The cadets watched Marine Corps Martial Art Program demonstrations, learned the capabilities of various machine guns the Marine Corps uses, and observed a static display of motor transportation vehicles. Ochsner, from Pflugerville, Texas, is a distribution management specialist with 3rd Supply Battalion, CLR-35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.

31st MEU Shallow Water Egress Training

72 years later Tarawa Marine begins journey home to Denver

Fallen Marines in Nepal helicopter crash honored at U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu
Brig. Gen. Tracy W. King (center), commanding general, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, and the Marine Security Guard Detachment Kathmandu stand in the newly dedicated 'Vengeance Hall' in the Marine House at the U.S. Embassy, Nov. 6, 2015. Six Marines, along with two Nepalese Army Liaison soldiers and five injured Nepalese civilians, lost their lives during an aircraft mishap on May 12. The Marines were conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in support of Joint Task Force 505, during Operation Sahayogi Haat when their aircraft went down. 'Vengeance Hall' was dedicated in their honor.
