Key West Conducts Mobile Logistics Demonstration
The Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Key West (SSN 722) moors to the Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd during a mobile logistics demonstration. The demonstration is designed to evaluate the supply ship’s ability to sustain submarine operations in an expeditionary setting. Key West is one of four forward-deployed submarines assigned to Commander, Submarine Squadron Fifteen out of Polaris Point, Guam.

Merry Christmas Drop from Woleai
Villagers on the island of Woleai in the Federated States of Micronesia retrieve one of five Low-Cost, Low-Altitude humanitarian aid bundles airdropped to them as part of Operation Christmas Drop 2019, Dec. 10, 2019. In its 68th year, OCD is the world’s longest running airdrop training mission, providing critical supplies to 55 remote Micronesian islands like Woleai, impacting approximately 20,000 people across 1.8 million square nautical miles of operating area.

Merry Christmas Drop from Woleai
Five Low-Cost, Low-Altitude humanitarian aid bundles are airdropped from a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules out of Yokota Air Base, Japan, during Operation Christmas Drop 2019, Woleai, Federated States of Micronesia, Dec. 10, 2019. Every December C-130 crews from the U.S.A.F. team up with the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force, Royal Australian Air Force, and Royal New Zealand Air Force for OCD, a humanitarian aid and disaster relief training exercise designed to airdrop critical supplies to remote islands like Woleai throughout the FSM and the Republic of Palau.

While on shore, the forces conducted limited patrolling, moved simulated victims to medical care, produced, and distributed drinking water. Military exercises like Tiger TRIUMPH improve partnership, readiness and cooperation.

U.S. Marines with Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) use a hand line to extinguish a fuel fire Jan. 25, 2019 during live-burn training on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. The training is held monthly to provide ARFF Marines with training scenarios to enhance their readiness to respond to any potential hazards or emergencies on the flight line. ARFF Marines entered the training area and used various hand lines, also known as a fire hose, to control and extinguish the fire.
