MANILA, Philippines –
USS Halsey (DDG 97), an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, will arrive in Subic Bay today for a routine port call that highlights the strong historic, community and military connections between the Philippines and the United States.
This visit will allow the ship to replenish supplies as well as give the crew an opportunity for rest and relaxation. While in Subic Bay, the sailors of USS Halsey are eager to enjoy Olongapo City and strengthen their understanding of a country with historical ties to the United States and the U.S. Navy.
The USS Halsey, named after Fleet Admiral William Frederick "Bull" Halsey, Jr. (1882-1959), is part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and is homeported at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The USS Halsey is commanded by CDR Linda Seymour.
