Japan-U.S. Bilateral Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise

Today the US Armed Forces and the Japan Self Defense Forces conducted a Bilateral Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise to demonstrate the readiness of the US-Japan Alliance to respond to regional threats.

This exercise further strengthens the bilateral deterrence and response capability that is based on a strong Japan-US alliance. The JSDF and US Armed Forces routinely work together and maintain high levels of operational readiness in order to respond to regional threats while defending our nations, and to further strengthen regional peace and stability.

Commander, Task Force 70 Conducts Flag Talks with JMSDF
Vice Adm. Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander, Fleet Escort Force, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, returns a salute to sideboys on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 5. Ships sail in formation during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022, July 28. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, three submarines, more than 30 unmanned systems, approximately 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California.
