15 June 2017

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (NNS) -- Aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2 arrived at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for a scheduled port visit, June 14.
Prior to the visit, the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group completed routine operations in the 7th Fleet Area of Operations, including Maritime Counter Special Operations Forces Exercise (MCSOFEX) with the Republic of Korea Navy and bilateral exercises with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
Following the port call, Carl Vinson will continue to transit east toward her homeport of Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California.
In Hawaii, Carl Vinson will host ship tours and upon departure, embark hundreds of 'Tigers'-family and friends of crewmembers who will ride the ship back to Naval Air Station North Island.
"I'm excited to be pulling into Hawaii after an extended time at sea and meeting up with my father, who is joining the ship for the Tiger Cruise," said Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Tucker Casey, from Marysville, Washington and the son of a retired Navy captain. "Having my dad on board is something I've been looking forward to and I think it will be a great experience for us both."
While onboard, guests will experience the sights and sounds of life aboard an aircraft carrier at sea. Scheduled events during tiger cruise include tours with shipboard subject-matter experts, a steel beach picnic and an air power demonstration.
CSG-1 departed San Diego for a regularly scheduled deployment to the western Pacific, Jan. 5. Carl Vinson, CVW 2 and embarked Destroyer Squadron (CDS) 1 deployed with Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser Lake Champlain and Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and Wayne E. Meyer.
CSG-1 deployed with approximately 7,500 Sailors and will focus on maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts. The strike group assets will conduct bilateral exercises in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to include anti-submarine warfare, maneuvering drills, gunnery exercises, and visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) subject matter expert exchanges.
