On behalf of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and civilians of U.S. Pacific Command, I offer our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Royal Family and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand on the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

His majesty’s personal efforts promoted peace, stability, and prosperity both within Thailand and throughout the region. I join Secretary of Defense Ash Carter in recognizing his majesty’s contributions to the deep and enduring alliance enjoyed by our two nations. His Majesty the King will forever be remembered as one of the world’s great leaders.

I send my prayers to the Royal Family and people of the Kingdom of Thailand during this solemn time.
