OSAN AIR BASE -- Soldiers from the 517th Movement Control Team out of Camp Henry recently joined forces with the 138th Movement Control Team in order to conduct Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group or ADACG operations at Osan Air Base, South Korea.
The reception staging and onward movement mission, or RSO, saw the outgoing 1st ABCT, 1st Cavalry Division head home to Fort Hood, TX after a successful nine month rotational deployment, and welcomed 1st ABCT, 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, KS as the new rotational Armored Brigade Combat Team, which will train with the Second Infantry Division.
The processing of the rotational units provides the 19th ESC and its subordinate units with consistent real world training opportunities for RSO missions and to prepare for Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations.
2nd Lt. Jonathan Webb, 517th MCT, said "our team is using this as a training opportunity in order to be ready for the upcoming Courageous Channel exercise, six personnel from the 517th participated in this mission and we will be able to go back to Area IV and train our units to conduct ADACG and NEO missions." The Baton Rouge, LA native also said "participating in this training will have the 517th trained and ready for these missions for the next year."
The teams were able to process over 1,300 soldiers from two different units in and out of the country, which includes in and out briefings, system in-processing, and movement of equipment to Area 1 and Area III.
Next up for the 517th is Courageous Channel, which is a non-combatant evacuation exercise. The exercise will run the greater part of October and will include a real non-combatant evacuee flight off the Korean peninsula to Okinawa Japan.
