Admiral Harris, New Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, Visits the Philippines

The new Commander of United States Pacific Command Admiral Harry Harris visited the Philippines 25-27 Aug, as part of a standard protocol visit to meet with Philippine and U.S. Embassy leadership to discuss matters of partnership and future engagements.
During his visit, he met with U.S. Ambassador Goldberg, President Aquino, Secretary of National Defense Gazmin, AFP leadership including Chief of Staff, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Western Command in Palawan. The Admiral’s meetings consisted of conversations on bi-lateral and multi-lateral engagements in the country, regional security, Philippine defense modernization and the future of diplomacy and interoperability between our two nations. The Admiral also participated in a wreath lying ceremony at the American Cemetery to honor our fallen service members.
