Yokota Civil Air Patrol participates in Far East Conference
22 June 2015
From Lt. Col. Adam Boyd

Yokota cadets, along with Kadena Air Base Civil Air Patrol Cadets, participated in the Far East Conference, a three day training event, at Yokota Air Base, Japan, May 25-27, 2015.
The cadets partnered with the Yokota Flight Training Center to provide orientation rides for 13 cadets in their Cessna 172s. The Cadets were given instruction on proper aircraft preflight procedures and afforded the opportunity to actually fly the aircraft and put some of their classroom work to use in the air.
"Actually flying the plane on the orientation flight was a lot of fun," said Yokota Cadet Airman 1st Class John Odom.
He and the other cadets participated in other events including a land navigation course at Tama Hills Recreation Area and a tour of both the 730th Air Mobility Squadron and Yokota's Air Traffic Control Facilities.
The conference, while designed to be fun and informative for the cadets, also allowed the staff of each squadron to network and trade ideas. Capt. Todd McLain, Kadena Cadet Squadron commander, was very optimistic about future collaborative operations between the two squadrons.
"We hope to continue building this relationship and working together for future training opportunities," he said.
