South Korea Army Staff Visits 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team
12 May 2015
From Cpl. SeoWon Lee
Republic of Korea Army leaders from the 16th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, 8th Infantry Division, met with 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, staff in order to communicate tactics and techniques regarding weapon of mass destruction removal operations, May 3, at Camp Hovey, South Korea.
Before 1st ABCT gets replaced by 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, 16th Mechanized Infantry Brigade leaders wanted to discuss strategies about WMD removal operations from their U.S. Army partners.
"Before 1st ABCT deactivates, we wanted to learn knowledge and intelligence regarding removal of WMD," said Maj. You Seon-ho, operations officer from the 16th Mechanized Infantry Brigade. "Until they leave, we would like to constantly communicate about these topics."
Capt. Tony Martineau, brigade chemical officer from the 1st ABCT, said it is helpful to build a common language for the operations. Therefore, when 2nd BCT comes, ROKA will be able to conduct joint trainings just like how they did with the 1st ABCT.
