The Korean Service Corps (KSC) Battalion conducted a Rehearsal of Concept (ROC) Drill at K-16 Air Field, Nov. 6.

The ultimate goal of the drill was to provide attendees with a better understanding of the KSC, its employees, mission, and the synchronization of the mobilization process.

"They go to war right beside U.S. forces and they are on the battlefield with them. How do they transition to war, what is their mission, how does the mission change, this brings it all together," said KSC Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Devon D. NuDelman.

The drill was attended by many senior leaders from Republic of Korea Ministry of Defense and the ROK Army as well as a number of Eighth Army MSC leaders to include the 2nd Infantry Division Deputy Commander, Brig. Gen. Clayton M. Hutmacher, the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command Commander, Brig. Gen. Stephen E. Farmen, ROK Army Headquarters Mobilization Division Chief, Col. Chang Tae-Dong, ROK MND Mobilization Chief Mr. Han Young-Su.

"This is a big deal for the ROK-U.S. alliance because we work with all of the major ROK government offices and local city governments to make sure that mobilization occurs as it should," added NuDelman.

Drills like this greatly enhance interoperability between Eighth Army and the ROK military and government ensuring that if war were to break out everyone knows what their roles are.

The KSC Battalion executes mission command of 2,185 KSC personnel throughout the Korean peninsula in order to provide heavy equipment transport, live fire support, maintenance, medical evacuation, air traffic control, water survival, and linguistic support to Eighth Army and USFK. It provides multifunctional support to the Garrisons in areas I-IV, and on order, expands to wartime strength to provide continuous support to U.S. Forces in Korea.
