RED FLAG-Alaska 14-3 Kicks Off
07 August 2014
From Staff
Residents of Interior Alaska may see and hear increased flying activity as the third RED FLAG-Alaska of the calendar year, RF-A 14-3, runs from August 7-22.
RF-A provides U.S. and allied pilots, aircrews and operational support personnel the opportunity to train and improve their air combat skills in preparation for a myriad of worldwide contingencies.
The exercises are conducted in the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex (JPARC), the largest training range in America at more than 65,000 square miles, and in special use airspace across the state, with air operations flown out of Eielson AFB and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.
The tentative schedule for the 2014 RF-A season is as follows:
RED FLAG-Alaska 14-3: August 7-22
RED FLAG-Alaska 15-1: Oct. 2-17
Fairbanks area media interested in covering RF-A must contact the Eielson AFB Public Affairs office at (907) 377-2116. Anchorage area media interested in covering RF-A must contact Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson's 673rd Wing Public Affairs office at (907) 552-8986.
