Combined Forces Command Representatives Visit 1st Signal Brigade

Representatives of Combined Forces Command?'s Combined Staff Command, Control and Communications Systems Office, including ROKA Brig. Gen Song Kyung-ho, assistant chief of staff and Col. Choi Nag-jung, chief of plans and operations division visited the 1st Signal Brigade on Jan 24.

The purpose of the visit was to share Song and the CFC, C6 team the 1st Signal Brigade?'s command overview and current initiatives to increase the capabilities of the military communication network throughout the Republic of Korea.

"I look forward to taking this opportunity to better understand how 1st Signal Brigade operates with other units and its plans to enhance interoperability between the U.S. and Republic of Korea Army," said Song.

Col. Paul H. Fredenburgh III, commander of the brigade and senior leadership delivered an in-depth presentation on brigade?'s primary missions and functions along with details of the capabilities of the brigade and its plans to operationalize the network.

Song especially liked the brigade?'s determination to continue ?'smart investment?' to modernize Korea during the presentation on the vision for the communications infrastructure.

"Despite the budgetary issues, we need to continue smart investment to modernize Korea and bring us into the 21 century," said Fredenburgh.

After the briefing, the group was given a brief tour of the Brigade Operation Center.

Song said he and his team will continue to actively engage 1st Signal Brigade throughout the year to help bring about next generation communication innovations that best meet the current needs of the peninsula.
