Exercise Freedom Edge 2025

04 September 2025

From U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Public Affairs

CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii — In July, Japan, Republic of Korea, and the United States approved the plan for the upcoming Freedom Edge 25, the premier trilateral, multi-domain exercise between the three nations, which demonstrates the countries’ shared commitment to collectively achieve and maintain peace in the Asia-Pacific.

In addition to continuing to refine ballistic missile defense capabilities, this year’s exercise will incorporate Marine and Air Force aviation capabilities and introduce enhanced air defense exercises, medical evacuation training, and maritime interdiction operation training.

Building on Freedom Edge 24-2, as well as trilateral ballistic missile defense and defensive counter air exercises throughout the year, Freedom Edge 25 will stand as the most advanced demonstration of trilateral defense cooperation to date.

The continued cooperation of all three nations tangibly demonstrates strength and an unwavering commitment to the defense of our vital interests against shared threats and strengthens deterrence in the Asia-Pacific through bolstering combat-credible forces inside the First Island Chain.
